Restore Your Smile with a Dental Crown

The team at Digby Dental Care wants to do everything they can to preserve your smile, and a porcelain crown is the best, most beautiful way to restore a tooth that has excessive decay.

Early detection of cavities is always the best option. If cavities become too large, filling them with any material may cause them to fracture and be lost permanently. In circumstances where your tooth is severely compromised by decay, a crown is the best method to restore it to full function. If you have several teeth crowned at once, it can be a mini-makeover.

Did you know? Aging is one of the primary reasons people need crowns. Over time, our teeth generally begin to weaken and become more susceptible to problems. Decay, fracture, hairline cracks, discoloration and other symptoms may make you feel that your smile is older than you are. Reclaim your youth and recover your reason to smile today!

The process of installing a crown takes 2-3 visits to our office. On the first visit, your tooth will be cleaned of all decay and reshaped by filing down the enamel so that the crown can be placed over it. Once the tooth has been reshaped, a mold will be taken of that tooth and the surrounding teeth, which will be sent to our partners at the dental lab so that your new crown can be fabricated.

Each crown is custom-made to fit in the spot created for it and to look the same relative to the surrounding teeth. Before leaving, Dr. Digby will fit you with a temporary crown until your permanent crown is ready.

The final crown takes about 2-3 weeks to be returned to our office. At this time, you will have another appointment to place it. We’ll anesthetize the area and use a permanent cement to securely attach the crown to your remaining tooth structure. When you look in the mirror, you will see your old smile back - except better than before!

Porcelain crowns are durable and will usually last about 10-15 years. You should care for one as you would any of your other teeth, with regular brushing, flossing and checkups. Call us today at (662) 862-6815 if you would like to learn more about how crowns can help restore your smile.
